Just saw this article in a local newspaper. I didn't know it was illegal to transport rattlesnakes or copperheads in Tennessee. I still contend that if The Good Lord had intended for us to pick up snakes, He woulda put a handle on em, but He didn't.

If god wanted us to pick up snakes he would have made them all dead.

Wonder if one would be sent to hell if he put a judge to the face during "church"

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all up in the Jesus thing, big time, but in reference to the scripture that this guy follows regarding his snake handling,,

quote:

Coots says his need for the snakes is Biblical. Chapter 16 of the Gospel According to Mark states, in part: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

How come these guys don't ever try drinking the deadly thing?

Some of em do. I've read a few articles about this particular sect drinking strichnine (sp?) poison and living. Have no idea how strong the mixture was, though.

Also, as far as the poisonous snakes, I think that G-d would have made them less poisonous and "strikey", if he wanted us to pick up/handle/f*ck with them.
