What did y'all think of the Levon tribute last night?

It was good, I would have liked Elton John and the other artists to talk about him so the 99% of the people watching who dont know Levon would appreciate.
Levon's death was the first time I have ever been saddened over a celebrity death.

after he died I made a commitment to not let a few others pass without seeing them live...not sure I'll be able to make it happen, but currently the working list is John Prine, Guy Clark and Leonard Cohen.
I used to look at the weekly line-up's at Levon's barn shows and thought about dropping the money and attending one, but never did.

I love how at the end, Mavis was still trying to sing what some would say was an owl call. The music was done and she was still hooting. Then after realizing he error, decided to play it off as an outro solo.

I have loved The Band for some time now, but bought The Last Waltz several years back. We would end late nights with dancing and singing to it.
When he passed, I shed some tears. There is something in his voice (passion, blues, soul-something) that gets to you. And the songs he played, they speak have a deeper meaning than most.
Really fortunate I saw him a couple years back before ABB at Jazzfest.

I take great pride in having seen Levon Helm at ACL 2009. I'm reading his book, the wheels on fire.

I'll probably always regret not going to one of his Midnight Rambles.
He was an ideal musician. Humble and had some great innovations just because it was fun for him. Plus he was the coolest fricking dude on the planet.
ETA: Its sad the Frank Ocean thread is so much longer than this one.
