Madden 13 struggles

I haven't played the series in a while but I figured I'd give this one a shot. It's been rough so far. My receivers never seem to be open and conversely I can't cover any receivers while on defense.
Anyone have similar problems? I feel like giving up and trying a different game.

Give it time and practice.
And if that doesnt work, just run 4 Vert routes on every play and youll be a beast!!!!

Just learn to cue on different formations and what they look like in different coverages. Game gets easy once you get the hang of reads.

Mix up your playcalling. Audible into max protection. Read your receivers quickly.
It takes some tweaking and getting used to.
When I first played, every pass I attempted was either caught or picked off.
