genre arguments are pointless. its a movie about a killer shark. who cares.

alot of movies contain strains of multiple genres.

They are saying "Adventure" which is laughable.

Horror/suspense/adventure.The movie made history. Just like King Kong, it brought in the new age animaltronics that we see today. Wasn't much computer stuff back in 1977. This animal was built to scale and was a one of a kind movie. Horror/suspense/adventure. For what it's worth, it ranks in the Top 10 of my all time favs with Shawshank Redemption and Star Chamber.

At the time- horror. This flick kept people out of the sea for a long time after it's release. It's now in the "summer blockbuster" genre that it's responsible for creating.

Play the theme.

How on earth can that be anything other than horror/suspense?

That theme just screams "adventure".

Horror is a fair assessment.

The antagonist kills a lot of people that keep making the wrong decisions and has his own theme music.

That's all you really need.

Same here. Except for the music played while they are chasing it while it pulls the drums. I feel that part has some adventure. Then jaws rams and so is the boat. Back to horror quick

What are other movies that the genre could be argued about

Action/Adventure/Suspense/Thriller/Horror

Peter Benchley wasn't a horror writer like Stephen King but the shark was definitely a "monster".

It's one of those movies that you really can't narrow down to one genre. It's kind of like limiting Apocalyspse Now to a "war" movie.
