Here is an idea....now follow me here....but maybe it IS possible to have a good time in public and not become inebriated??? Is the Bayou Bash so pathetic that you have to be drunk to enjoy it?
Or how about this...if you drink, DON'T DRIVE! You wouldn't get a DUI then. It's not hard.

No way to get away from work.

I have been several times and always enjoyed it...great way to stretch the football season out just a little longer, in my mind...
unfortunately, I live out of state and would have to take at least 2 days off work to go now, so I won't be making it...

i've been a few times, to shoot the bull with friends in the middle of the day when i am near the location .. no way i could get there at the crack of dawn and stay there until miles speaks .. no way .. that is just a wasted day to me ... i think the thing is tired, dull, and needs a makeover very very badly ..

Too bad it is on a Wednesday.

I agree with the makeover part. My Dad checked me out of school to go to the very first one at the indoor track facility and it was crazy. I remember buying an LSU Hat & DiNardo walking right up & signig it. He walked around and spoke to us and others as well as agonized over NSD right beside us.
Lots of fun. We went for several years afterward once it was moved to the Atrium at the Belle. When it was there, you better believe the beer lines were very long.
If you go with a group, it can be fun. Inside the newer Convention Center at the River Center, it gets swallowed up. There's tons of room but its cavernous in there and as others have said, most of it is roped off tables with older gentleman/retiree types sitting around leafing through complimentary copies of the Advocate & Tiger Rag.
I agree that they could set it up much better but that's a deal that the Gridiron Club puts on. I believe other than dues its their main moneymaker. If you have suggestions, I'm sure they'd love to hear from members who are willing to help.
I think the checkpoint last year really struck a blow for them this year in terms of attendance. They will really slack there this year, along with LSU's stubborn-arse head coach who obviously doesn't give a rip about the fans and their opinions. Not judging just saying.
Just think some "new life" should be breathed into the event somehow.

yeah and just think if every coach would just listen to fans, none of them would ever lose.

No thank you .. over run with geezers in sans-a-belt coaches shorts and gaudy LSU gear ... kinda creepy ..

What kind of wait times are there for the Ensure
line?

Here's a thought:
Still take the day off anyway. Invite some buddies over. Get a keg. Smoke some ribeyes, fire up TD.com and ESPN, so you can make fun of them pretending to be recruiting experts one day of the year.
When a recruit signs, celebrate. Hooray!
You will have more fun than you will at the bash, get the same info, get more beer with less wait, and no BRPD hassle... For basically the same cost.
I just might do this.

Thats not the point. If I'm driving, I would have 1 beer at the most. The bash is a good time. However, it was quite clear last year the BRPD was out for blood and it was a fundraiser for the BRPD. I do not wish to wait inline for the checkpoint and be interrogated again. It was a money maker for inspection stickers and seatbelts.
Yes, checkpoints are a good thing. Have them on certain fri and sat nights and various holidays, but on a wednesday at 430pm targeting an event?

Not if you split a vip table with buds... the girls bring you pitchers.
Sounds like some of you dont know how to enjoy the bash the proper way.
