LINK
found these on my computer from a couple of years ago. from the email
"These pictures were taken on Hwy 304 between Choupic and Chackbay on the sides of the road. The water was low as the
Swamp is drying up and pusing crawfish to road side canal. People are on the sides of the highway
using a dip net loading up everything they can get their hands on."

Damn.... You don't see that too often. Still amazes me that someone actually thought one day to eat these things. I'm glad they did!

I remember seeing these pictures. I was rewarded handsomely for showing a few friends that link. Got a free sack of nice crawfish for it.

My old man used to tell me stories from his childhood about crawfish piling into drainage ditches during droughts. Never seen actual pics. Pretty cool...

I saw them like that on Airline Hwy in St Rose. They seemed to be crossing the highway. Getting run over by cars and a bunch of people were pulled over picking them up off the shoulder.

I always wonder how the same pics get attributed to two different places,
Sabine
Even has the quote,
quote:
These pictures were taken on Hwy 12 between Starks and Deweyville on the sides of the road. The water was high and after the dam gates at Toledo were closed the water started going down and this is what it looks like. People are on the sides of the highway using a dip net loading up everything they can get their hands on.

i wonder if that is a "jubilee" event, where the oxygen in the water gets so low that all the animals theiren are forced to crawl out or float up. Seems like i remember something similar along Airline Hwy when I was a kid, on the way to New Orleans, but I am not certain.

interesting find AlxTiger. it was sent to me, that's all i know. the guy that sent it is a field guy for Chevron, so he's out and about a pretty good bit.
