Is it feasible to sear a steak in a dutch oven, or would I need a skillet for any reason? Don't have either and only want to get one right now.

Sure, I prefer it as it contains the grease splatter better.

I picked up a Wolfgang Puck 6qt dutch oven this week at TJ Maxx for $29.
