Put in FDB but not many responses....may work better over here.

I know several of you guys have kamado grills. I have mine on order and got my dad to build me a table as he has a shop and does quite a bit of wood work. The table is built of red oak......how have you guys finished your table? I'm thinking I'm gonna stain and then use several coats of spar varnish..........unless one of you guys had a better method you could suggest.

Have not cut the hole in the top obviously.

Go to a local paint store like Helm Paint and ask the guys who work there. They will know more about wood and how it will hold up w/ the different sealants.

You should sand it really well and put at least 3 coats of spar on it. Here's how my table came out.
