My brother is a forester. During the scenes in Tennessee, he pointed out two types of trees that don't grow in that state.

When they go bounty hunting, they travel the west for some time. The mountain scenes were shot in Jackson, Wyoming and that's where Tarantino insisted they took place. West Texas was where I assume the Dickie Mining Company was intended to take place, so those hills there make sense.

On the subject of inaccurate locations for the south, it's cheaper to film in one or two locations and find places that could pass off for other, similar locations. Filming in Louisina and making it other regions of the south is cheap and easy to convince people who are there to watch a fricking movie and not think too much into it

Yeah Tarantino could have explained the location changes a bit more smoothly. When waltz rescues django in Texas and says something like "we'll go after your wife when the snow melts" I could only think "when the snow melts where"

I thought the same thing myself when I saw Django with the Dickey mining company people and wondering where in thd hell those foothills came from. Mississippi does have a few areas with some hills like down around Natchez and over towards Meridian but Greenville and the area all around it is flatter than a bookkeeper's arse... But then I just shrugged it off and went back to eating my Reese's Pieces
