Played for the master guitarist today in a masterclass. It was pretty great.

Congrats to you. I have vague ideas, but what exactly goes on in a master class? I presume it lasts a few hours, during which the master may talk about what he considers the most important, he listens to students perform and gives them feedback, and he answers questions.

Yeah, a lot of just what you said. Generally a few people perform, then take instruction. This is done in front of an audience, all of whom are normally players, as well. This one lasted for three hours, and had five participants.
