Barrow likely moves inside unless Feist, Welter, Muncie, Louis or Granier really step up.

I keep forgetting about Muncie in all the LB discussions. What happens with him? Does he transfer or stay around and battle the youngsters who are more talented? Gonna be interesting.

My bet is that white and beckwith start. Beck at Sam and white opposite mills. However the coaches may want to add some size to white before he contributes. Guy has skills.

Barring injury, there's no shot either of these guys beats out the veterans. We have a lot of talented LBs and DEs ahead of Beckwith, and White would have to beat out Collins. Collins was very impressive this year and would have been a solid starter except for a freak shutdown (3 star) true freshman corner. It wouldn't surprise me, though, if White was in our nickel package.

I could see Desean starting due to depth and being just that good.

I doubt he "starts" because that honor will go to a brutish TE. But he'll probably be the TE who plays on passing, or tweener, downs.

Dude we have 4 DEs on the roster, and two have been in the program for 3 years and contributed very little (Maclin, Allen). I would say there is an opportunity at DE.

Leslie starts, we need a big and deep threat. smith plays a lot at te. beckwith plays a lot at de not olb though. white is nickel back. williams and willis would play a lot if they sign with us.
foster would start and RN would be 1st dt off bench.

Muncie is an afterthought and if welter starts we're in serious trouble

True, but one of them, Allen, was expected to be a contributor this year except for injury, another, Hunter, is being proclaimed as a stud, and of course there's Rasco. Only two start. I think the best newcomer will be fourth or fifth on the depth chart, and I give Beckwith a 1 out of 3 chance to be that best newcomer. So, long shot. Remember that Seals-Jones was a can't miss stud until we saw him in the all star game. Beckwith looked a lot better than that, but he wasn't dominant.

Defensive Line Breakdown:

This is what we have coming back:

WDE:
Rasco
J. Allen

LT:
Freak
M. Johnson

RT:
Ego
Q. Thomas

SDE:
D. Hunter
J. Maclin

This is our Dline haul as of now:

DE:
Frank Herron
K. Beckwith
Michael Patterson
Lewis Neal

DT:
M. Bain
Greg Gilmore
C. LaCouture
Tevin Lawson

We will literally be doubling our bodies in the recruiting class.

I don't think its any stretch to say that Herron, Beckwith, and Gilmore could all see some time.

NONE WILL START!

To say none would start, you mean the first game of the season. Things happen like injuries and some of these new players stepping up and out performing someone else. The coaches will need to get most if not all of these guys game ready. There were 15 or so freshman with playing time this year. I see the same thing occurring next year also.

Yes. First game of the season, barring tragedy.

Anyone want to break down the linebackers?

Defensive Backs:

LCB:
J. Collins
D. Thomas

RCB:
J. Mills
D. Raymond
K. Holmes

FS:
R. Martin

SS:
C. Loston?
M. Eugene
C. Thompson
J. Sandolph

Incoming Freshmen:

CB:

T. White
R. Robinson
R. Jefferson

S:
J. Cutrer

I have no doubt that White can come in and play immediately. Even more interesting is that we have no depth at FS, at least according to depth charts, so their is an opportunity there for someone to switch positions or an incoming freshmen to step up.

But i just dont see someone on the DL starting over Rasco Hunter (Logan) Freak or Ego...do yall?

RK if he commits. My guess is he's being told he will play significantly year 1. He is not looking at coming LSU with the idea he has to wait a year to see the field.

I don't think any freshman start.

White has a chance to come in in nickel/dime packages. Maybe a lineman like Herron or Gilmore.

IMHO, barring injuries, none start but several see playing time in the Chief rotation.

I'm sure Miles and Stud will come up with a package that includes Desean and everytime he steps foot on the field everyone in attendance will know he's about to get the ball.

Les Miles and co. are definately some of the best at developing talent in the college game, so I am not worried especially on the D-Line if the guys have the physical tools/ work ethic then we will be fine. Linebacker corp same story as the D-Line have no worries with the Chief handling this group. Defensive back is where my concerns are, mainly due to the end of this year and our pass coverage as well as just a lack of leadership if Loston leaves. Also while some have some weird problem with guys leaving early or get so worried, I love it, further helps us on the recruiting trail and I enjoy seein the next great defensive playmaker. Our class is great, that while there may be no starters, because guys already have starter qualities will be situational guys there first year.
