Anybody here hunts Big Branch NWR
Looking for some info on duck hunting Big Branch...
First of all.. How is this season going there??
How do most people hunt this area?? Can you walk to ponds? Or do most hunt out of a pirogue or flat boat??
How is the water level there... Would you be able to paddle a 12 ft flat boat through the ponds?? Or too much work??
TIA.... I've only been duck hunting a few times and looking for a place that I can take my son to hunt without having to get there by motor boat....

I used to hunt there probably 5yrs ago and it wasn't too crowded then. We used to take a flat boat close to where we needed to get and use a pirogue to get to the spots. There were always a bunch of mallards there and a few woodies.
Saw grass was high as hell every time we went and it was a PITA to get birds that didn't fall on the water.
Paddling a flat boat sucks balls. Get a pirogue

LOTS of people and little room unless you have a boat and run out in the lake and come back in.
