My uncle has a farm, he has 20 or so turkeys on the farm. He raises them more like pets, feeds them daily has a barn they roost in while their young.

I was thinking of making a small donation to the NWTF. My uncle hunts. Considering all the conservation the NWTF, he wouldn't take this in anyway wrong would he?

TIA.

I wouldn't take it in the wrong way. Just get him a year membership. $35 bucks it will be just like a donation and he will get the magazine.

ETA: I just looked it up and you will recieve a 25 gift card to bass pro when you join. Win, win in my book.

He has a great one. The irony at Thanksgiving this year. Him frying a store bought turkey while all the farm turkeys walked around on the deck and yard.

As a turkey hunting die hard I have very mixed feelings about the NWTF. I'm personally not a member at this time. Quite honestly, I dont believe the NWTF is doing much on the "conservation" side of things. By most accounts the restoration of the wild turkey is complete and the trap and transfer programs are done. Private land management and educated outdoorsmen have done more to boost the number of turkeys than the NWTF ever has.

Which begs the question, what are they doing now? The organization as I see it has reached a point where its almost solely about money and I just cant see where the $33M they made last year went. Until there is greater clarity where the monies are going I cannot participate.

This has been my beef with Ducks Unlimited. Where does all that money REALLY go?

DU raked in $143M last year. They gave $1M in salaries to their 3 top employees. They do rate pretty poorly based on a third party evaluating service.
