Beginner acoustic, looking to see if it's for you? Epiphone. They make nice high end guitars, too, but they have some less expensive models, maybe even under $200. Look in your local phone book....er.....Yellowpages.com and go to a local shop.
There should also be some reasonable Alvarez and/or Ibanez guitars, too.

Bush u need to bring yo arse up here and kill deer! Then we play guitar. Had fricking 9 doe with 2 spikes/buttons in my backyard this morning. You and me can party on deer in Illinois and Kentucky.
To the op. Buy a decent Yamaha for about 400 and buy a tuner so you won't get disappointed . Learn how to change strings and practice until you bleed. Been doing it for 30 years.

If your really not sure if its going to be something you will stick with I would go for a cheapo like a Yamaha from best buy or target. Usually less than 100 bucks. Not the greatest but usually have softer strings. I had an old pawn shop guitar that I started to learn with. Then about 3-4 months in when I stuck with it and finally started to get it I rewarded myself with a nicer higher end epiphone acoustic
Lets face it a huge percentage of ppl trying to learn usually quit 1-2 weeks in. Because well the first month or 2 of trying to learn sucks. Finger tips are sore wrist cramps up feel like you have no rhythm.

The standard beginner guitar is a Fender Squier Stratocaster. Usually about $150-$200. Fender makes squier acoustics also.

Warning: These are very, very cheap and sound like shite. But if you get into it and learn the guitar and really like it, upgrade. Guitars are one of the things on this planet where when you pay more, you truly get more.

I bought my daughter one last year from the place on Florida Blvd. right by the Texas Club. Awesome personal service and tips and very reasonably priced. Guitar center never even took the time to ask if I needed any help and they seemed a little pricey.

I was in the same boat. I wanted to learn classical guitar, but as a beginner, didn't want to spend a ton. I found that the cordoba was the best for the money. I spend about 350 and have a great sounding guitar that is very forgiving on the fingers.

My most expensive one is a Guild DV-4.$699.00.It's a low end Guild but I love it.I've got a Washburn I paid $300.00 for at a Pawn Shop and it has a nice sound.
If you don't play and are going to purchase one,get the salesman to play it.Really lightweight,cheap guitars sound like shite.You want one that the strings are close to the fret board or it will kill your finger tips.It'll take a while but It's worth it.
