Is it risky to show that you sold a vehicle for less than you actually sold it for to help the buyer on taxes?

I might do it for a family member or a close friend, but certainly not for a stranger. Even then I wouldn't leave a paper trail like accepting a check for the larger amount.

If by risky you mean illegal, then yes, it is risky.

Depends on how risky you think tax fraud is?
Will you get caught, probably not, but if you do it would be pretty hard to explain. And all of that to save someone else a few bucks...not for me
