PS3 controller charging problem

I have a problem with one of my controllers, when plugged up to the ps3 it charges correctly, when its plugged up to my dualshock3 charging station the lights blink really fast.
I'm not trying to sync the controller and the ps3 is turned off when I do this. My other controller charges fine on the ps3 and the charging station.
I have tried resetting the controller, switching the charging adapters from one controller to the other(the ones that came with the charging station) and I've tried switching the slots it gets charged in and it still doesn't work right. The battery isn't dead either.
My Xbox never gives me these problems.
Anyone know how to fix this? Google did not provide me with any answers.
