Why on earth would an ILB in a 3-4 scheme have more sacks than a pass-rushing DE?

Among LINEBACKERS, Te'O doesn't even rank in the top 100. He is 6th on his own team in sacks.

Let's look at tackles for loss, which is a key stat playing inside backer in a 3-4 against the run.

He has a whopping 5.5 tackles for loss, which doesn't even rank in the top 100 for linebackers either.

Let's compare him to Kevin Minter (middle linebacker - LSU).

Minter has more tackles (111), more sacks (3), more tackles for loss (13.5), and the same amount of touchdowns (0)

Lots of Heisman winners padded their stats against their weaker competition. That's what happens.

It's not a good year. Agreed on that point. But I'd vote both Te'o and Klein ahead of Manziel. Klein has only 1 blemish on his resume. His stats are great and his team had a better season.

Te'o's team has a perfect record, and he played his best games in the biggest games - Michigan, Stanford, Oklahoma, and USC. His defensive stats are better than Woodson's when he won the Heisman. The only difference is Woodson's punt return at the end of the year.
i can see your point about Te'o...being that they had such a special year.

But we are talking about a kid who just waltzed into the SEC in their program's first year in the toughest conference in the country and just fricking put up video games stats.

Look at his stats on the road.

on the road. in the SEC.

A freshman doesn't have to go undefeated in order for him to win the trophy, IMO.

Just break every imaginable offensive record in the SEC, and it's yours. and deservedly so.

Two of these teams suck.

You're forgetting one. Oklahoma's D is full of the suck. Hence, the whole team sucks.
