9-7 wins the 6 seed. Will be interesting in that scenario how many teams at that record and who gets the spot. Saints or bucs, Seahawks, cowboys or giants. I think the 5 seed goes to the north unless the bears just fall off the planet and then the lions and vikings would be in the picture. But if that happened, the 5 seed would be just as much up for grabs? I guess there's just still too much ball left to play. Then I just wasted my time.

I don't think 9-7 is good enough to get it done,

With that said I think the Seahawks get the 6th seed

But the saints get the 5

Bears collapse mirrors saints run

At this point, just making the playoff will be a MASSIVE accomplishment, and one that should not be overlooked.

Does anyone know how long Cutler will be out? If the Bears start losing games in bunches we very well could contend for the 5 seed. But depending on the seeding, I'm not sure if that's better or worse than the 6 will be.

The Bears looked like a 2-8 team last night.
And not all that is on the QB.

i think the saints enf up 10-6. They're hotter than any other team right now. Really wish we had come away with 2 of the 3 early losses being wins. (carolina/KC/GB) We would be talking seeding right now instead of just getting in.

My OP was just meant to be a hypothetical "if" all runner ups in each division were 9-7. IMO if the saints get 10 wins, with the bears faltering, they are in.

If the Saints can go 2-1 over the next three games...(SF, @ATL, @NYG) then they'll finish at 10-6.

Agreed. And I think it's very unlikely that they get left out of the playoffs with a 10-6 record.

Really? I think its incredibly likely a 10-6 team gets left out.

I see us sweeping the Buccaneers. Bucs also play Atlanta twice and @Broncos.

Seattle has to play at Chicago and hosts 49ers. Also travel east to Buffalo...you never know.

The 49ers have to travel to the Superdome. What if the Saints win? They also have to play the Seahawks and travel to New England.

The Bears have Seattle, the Vikings twice, the Packers, and finish at Detroit.

The Cowboys play the Saints, at Cincy, Steelers, and end at Washington.

It's going to be a wild ride.

yep. plenty wrote the whole season off once we started 0-3 and then 0-4. Making the playoffs after that start would be almost like a miracle. and we can do it!

I played around the playoff machine thing this morning. At 10-6, the saints make the playoffs more often than not.

Also, it's still possible for the saints to get the #1 seed

The Vikings still have to play the Bears twice, so a Bears collapse isn't necessarily a good thing for us.
