Yes. And it's not even close. Even the PSX, as good as its lineup was, wasn't in the same universe as the SNES in terms of RPG's.

I agree.

There were more titles for it than any system.

I don't know if that still holds true with XBOX still kickin'.

I love a handful of SNES RPGs, but there were more high-quality RPGs on PSX imo.

SNES RPGs I loved:
SMRPG
FFIII
Chrono Trigger
Earthbound
Shadowrun

SNES RPGs I liked okay:
Illusion of Gaia
Lufia
Lufia 2
Secret of Mana
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire 2

PSX RPGs I loved:
FFVII
FFVIII
FFIX
FF Tactics
Vagrant Story
Chrono Cross
Xenogears
Grandia
Dragon Warrior VII
FF Chronicles
FF Origins
FF Anthology
Legend of Dragoon

PSX RPGs I liked:
Wild Arms
Wild Arms 2
Legend of Mana
Valkyrie Profile
Breath of Fire 3
Breath of Fire 4
Lunar
Lunar 2
Suikoden
Suikoden 2

not even in the same universe?

not sure how you could use such hyperbole when it could be argued that the PSX was in fact the superior system for RPGs

and that's not even counting the fact that some of the best SNES RPGs were ported onto the PSX (although Its probably not fair to consider ports in this discussion)

Did you ever start your Final Fantasy 3 (6 on PS1) playthrough?

I played through 5 minutes on the GBA emulator, but had to turn it off before I got into it. I dont have the time right now was planning on playing it during the winter break; although I still havent decided if I want to stick with the GBA emu or pick up the SNES version.

I downloaded it yesterday on the Wii shop(SNES version) and plan on doing the same during winter break, I haven't played it in years.

I assume the GBA version may have different dialogue and/or scenes.

i've done some research and basically GBA has a better translation with some parts of the dialogue and menu texts. also has an added dungeon at the end and a couple of more espers. downside is the graphics are alittle worse (maybe not worse but GBAish) from youtube vids, i like the snes display better

also the SNES version has better sound. which is pretty much the deciding factor for me
