Not sure why Ive never been. Heard and seen......

We sat at the bar tonight - had some apps. Crabmeat Cheesecake, BBQ Shrimp, Crabclaws. All were very good.

Mark is a great bartender. Remembered a guy from Albany he saw n there 4 months ago. Solid.

This post was obviously unnecessary..... But this boards discussion of the cheesecake got us in here. Thanks.

Their jazz brunch is now firmly on my to-do list.

Love the apps there... Of course it's hard to screw up shrimp, crab, garlic butter and french bread to dip in it. Good nontheless.

I've eaten there twice and had mixed feelings about it.

Kind of had service issues the first time and then the food was just ok the second time.

They served us one of the special baked/broiled oyster dishes cold. I hate knowing that they had cooked the shite the day before and sent it out on their cute little rock salt display plates, but forgot to stick them in the microwave.

I have suggested it to some out of town folks who were staying on Canal and they have enjoyed it.

Thats why ive never eaten there. Location is rough on me..... Figured service would mimick the clientele.... (Some nice, some upscale, some drunk, some n camo, etc)

Sitting that the bar is the way to go. Usually what I do unless its several in my party.

I had the barbecue shrimp app and a cup of seafood gumbo there for lunch today. It was good, but both dishes were better the last time I ate there.

Place gets a bad rap on this board. Its not my favorite but it is consistent and I've never had a bad experience. There are just places I'd rather go in that same price range.

Same here..I seem to get better service upstairs.

Ate there many times

It biggest postive is I can always walk in with little to no wait when I can't get a last minute reservation at any other place in town.

which is great for Jazzfest weekends and such

Older fella probably in his 50s?

Last two times I have been recently it's been much better. I wrote it off for years though.

It's not a horrible restaurant, but it's sort of "middle of the road" Brennan fare if that makes any sense. It's okay every now and then for lunch or if you need something in a pinch for dinner, but I don't consider it to be anything special.

It's an easy walk from Sak's and there's never a wait.
