I used truecar for 2 vehicle purchases

Both of mine ended up damn near outside of the bell curve

I don't think their rebates are always up to date like others have said but it's a decent gauge of invoice, etc

I know you have covered this before but where is a good place to search online for invoice prices for dealerships?

LINK / , LINK / , LINK and LINK are excellent sites to research the vehicle of your choice (Invoice vs. MSRP, manufacturer rebates, dealer holdback, etc.)

For instance, say a 2012 F-150 XLT 4x4 is stickered for $41k. What would be a rough estimate on what the invoice would be for that truck? $10 or 12K under sticker?

im looking at an ad right now for all star in denham that has 12K off msrp for f150 xlt crew

obviously its for a particular stock number noted on the ad, but i dont think you'll have too much trouble getting a similar deal on any 2012 with the same msrp or higher

msrp on this particular vehicle is 38865

It may take a little work but I think it's doable

I got that much off of a truck that wasn't even on the lot yet, just on the trailer on the way from the factory

So it wasn't like they were dying to get rid of it like one that's been on the lot for months

The higher the MSRP, the more dealer discount available, but the rebates could be different on an xlt vs fx4

Yeah the 12k off MSRP is on a particular stock number. They will try to flip you to a more expensive, less discounted model once you get there. They possibly will run the $12k off a similar model with the same options, but they will try to get you on something else first.

As for the 12k off, that includes all factory rebates, dealer discounts, and financing thru Ford Motor Credit Company. If you do not finance through ford, you can only really expect around 10k off.

Slapahoe, as for that deal on an FX4, they will not do 12k off. Main reason is because XLT factory rebates are 1-2k better than FX4 rebates. Many more XLTs produced than FX4s.

I financed through ford to get the $1000 rebate. Once my first payment slip arrived i went to credit union and refinanced through them.

I did the same

The dealer wanted me to wait for 3 pay cycles before doing that so they would get a kickback but hat would have costed me like 300 bucks in interest over 3 months

I refi'd before I even got the first bill, just called for a payoff quote

FWIW, I went through a service called carbargains.org. For $200 they contact dealerships in your area (in my case about 10)and ask them to participate in the bidding on a (whatever car, I said a 4-Runner 4WD). Some responded with results like "Invoice + 500" or "MSRP - 1000) or, what I went with was "Invoice - 1000". Some did not respond at all. In the meantime, I was looking at Honda Pilots on Sundays, without salesmen. The wife and I started to prefer the Pilot, so I contacted Honda via email and asked them what they could do for me on a Pilot, and that Toyota said I could get the 4-runner for Invoice - 1000. He later responed and said he'd match that. So, I called him, said I'd be there in 20 minutes. He had the Pilot ready and the MSRP was 37500. I told him I'd take it if he'd threw in a luggage rack (about 500 more on to MSRP) and I'd give him 33000...about 5000 under MSRP. He got it approved. I was there about 30-40 minutes. Smoothest vehicle purchase I ever had.

this is interesting to me. I will admit to being too busy (sometimes lazy) to deal with the whole car negotiation process. Anyone else have experience with this service?

Some dealers are willing to deal on the FXs. I just bought a 2012 FX2 with a $41,300 MSRP for $29,800. That did include $1000 trade assist, and $1000 for financing with Ford.

Ford Credit rates are terrible though. My credit isn't perfect, but it's above average and they gave me 8.09%. I've already refinanced at 3.69% though. Just a heads up. That finace rebate will cost you if you don't refi.
