what are the best skip-tracing services for finding people. I have used a few on the internet and they don't give the detail that i expected. For instance, they may give you ten addresses that a person has had, but there is no way to tell when those addresses were used, how current they are, etc. Also, does anyone know of a way to trace people by their utility accounts (i.e. they have an electricity account at _____ address). I usually have the SSN and DOB. thanks.

accurint.com along with credit reports are what the collections dept of my old employer used. Accurint also provides info about the physical assets owned by the deadbeats.

I'd probably use the OT. Tell them he made jokes about Katrina.

Try Lexis. They have a people finder search engine. It sucks, but if they paid utilities in their name you might be able to find them. It lists duration of stay.

The DMV also releases data under certain circumstances. If you meet the criteria, you may try that.

Facebook is not a bad suggestion. People are dumb.

You don't find lexis and westlaw to be kind of spotty? I am curious to see what else people have.

Lexis Nexis and Accurint actually merged services. As some have mentioned, the info can be spotty at times, but also can be pretty reliable. If you have the capability of pulling credit bureaus through Equifax, they now have a "First Search" function that will give you addresses that have been reported to Equifax on a particular subject. Sometimes you have to weed through this, as others that may be looking for said person may have used an old address. They also have an employment search that uses The Work Number to verify employment. This is only useful if the employer uses The Work Number as a means of verifying.

I don't know what kind of people you are skip tracing, but what I typically find is that they don't put utilities in their own name. Mostly because their credit is so jacked up they can't get them in their name without a $500 deposit. Lexis/Accurint will give you a date range of when a particular address was used, but it's not very reliable as far as that is concerned. I skipped myself and it had a lot of incorrect info, especially dates. As I said in my other post, if you have access to Equifax, it will tell you the exact day that a particular address was reported to the credit bureau on a particular person. You just have to make sure that it's new information.

A lot of people don't know this, but their cell phone charger gives off an "intermittent time-sampled backscatter sequence". They're often used in "self-taught acquirers' liquid kurtosis equity research".

It's easy to use. You just have to know how to read between the lines.
