Why wouldn't it be Charlie Mac field at Tiger Stadium? Just curious.

What did Mac accomplish? He was head football coach for 17 years. He won 1 SEC championship. He was scared of Bear Bryant. If the Bear recruited a La state player Mac would concede the kid and back off.
He did so little with so much. I would not want a restroom in Tiger Stadium named after him.
One championship in 17 years at LSU.......And people want to name something after him?

The practice field is named after him. That is enough.

We should’ve done the same for Brown in the PMAC basement courts. That would be enough.

McClendon, like Dale Brown, mostly underachieved during their LSU coaching tenures. Both remained head coach about 4-5 years too long.

There's no way McClendon would have remained LSU football coach for so long in today's competitive climate: look at his record over the last six seasons-

1974: 5-5-1
1975: 4-7
1976: 6-4-1
1977: 8-4
1978: 8-4
1979: 7-5

McClendon was actually fired after the 1978 season, but managed to stay on one more year, which featured memorable close losses vs USC, Bama and Florida State, who all finished the regular season undefeated (Bama was the NC).

As I said in the OP, we didn’t win shite but Ol’ Pops here had fun!

Lol @ this child acting like he rents the place and all!

I did have fun watching Dale lead Shaq, CJ, Stanley Roberts, Ricky Blanton and crew onto the court and into the tourney.

You got to watch Trent Johnson, Johnnie Jones, and John Brady lead whomever onto the court. I guess I’d be bitter too. You shoulda been there…it was fun watching greatness every time that LSU stepped out onto the court, but I guess your mom was busy sleeping with people other than your dad, so it all happened before your time.
