Wandering elk, bobcats on porches, and wily coyotes running in Rose Park

After several years of drought, we've had close to 200% snowfall this year. As a result, the animals that live in our mountains have really struggled this year. Our DNR has taken to feeding our deer and elk. Many animals have migrated to the neighborhoods near the mountains.

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is used to herding a few stray elk, deer or cougars that have wandered into neighborhoods to check out the scenery, or more than likely grab a bite to eat because the snow is so deep in their own backyard.

But the state agency experienced the unique challenge of embarking on a three-hour operation Thursday to shoo some 60 or so buffet-hungry elk away from crowded roadways on I-80 in Parleys Canyon and nearby Foothill Boulevard.

Nature does what she do.
We don't control her.

Droughts followed by increased precipitation been happening forever. It's like a cycle or something.

Looks about right for my location in Colorado. Elk walking down residential streets in Golden and nearby communities. They love the golf course too.

Bobcats, mountain lions and coyotes roaming for backyard snacks. Cold and lots of snow this year have animals roaming.
