I got my wife a work computer for Christmas. Asus with i5, 12gb ram.
The keyboard will randomly stop working then start again. I updated the Bios and the OS detects nothing wrong. External and on screen keyboard are fine. Should I return it or is there a fix? Could just be a loose ribbon cable but I don't want to take a new laptop apart if I don't have to.

Have you checked the Windows keyboard accessibility settings to make sure there aren't key-ignore features turned on?

Is the entire board or half? I had a model where half the board would go out and it was always the ribbon cable. Stupid design flaw where if you rested your hands on the laptop it would press down on the ribbon and break the connection.

Entire thing. All of a sudden no keys work. You can tap any one and nothing happens. Then open and close a few things or close the screen and open and it works until it stops again.

If its under warranty, take it to an authorized repair shop. It could be a hardware issue with the keyboard or the system board or just a cable.

I got it from Amazon. I'm just going to send it back and get a refund.

I don't know where to take it that could touch it. I'm not paying for a repair.
