I was at the game also. I still say leaving the dome after that was the most eerie silence I’ve been around.

So true. People always ask me how pissed the crowd was walking out. And I tell them it was more people were in an utter and complete state of shock .

After our defense was completely dominating them at the start and the Davis INT with the ceiling tiles in the dome falling from the noise… I thought there was no way we lose that game.

It’s funny how that POS head ref has never called a Saints game since. That’s how you know something was up

I refuse to watch.

1) I was watching the game already so I don't need a rehash of that crap.

2) I haven't gotten my blood pressure meds refilled.

Man yall are so wrong on this subject it hurts an old man like me!

The play was DEZINED to get a pass interferance call. That is football! But the NFLS thinks that it is! Very poor integrety!

We deserved the no-call for a weak play call! A flag on a play that is DEZINED to get a flag is not the call on a BIG PLAY!

Everything leading up to it is why we lost. NOT THE ONE PLAY. Shane Peytons greatest failure! TOO SMUG!

I do hate the sity of los angeles. THanks Coach for making THEM the champs.

No way he is worth a first round pick.

For a league that is pass interference happy I always thought it was strange they didn’t throw a flag. These refs throw flags on plays with hardly any contact. The league rigged that one imo. Let’s not forget the head ref got the Super Bowl the following year.

This. If you’ve ever read up on Tim Donaghy (the NBA ref who got caught gambling) he basically says something along the lines of “ in what profession do people make insanely bad mistakes and then get promoted? “. Bill Vinovich being the head referee of the next Super Bowl is a perfect example of what Donaghy was saying.

The last time the Saints were in the NFC Title game, I was in an Afghan valley in 2010 receiving score updates on a BFT from the TOC. My had burned all the news reports on the Saints winning both the NFCCG and the SB that year and sent them to me on DVDs so I could watch them on my portable 10 inch DVD player. Needless to say, I was excited to be home for this one.

And then...

The day my NFL fandom died

Same.
It was my last game as a season ticket holder, myself and our group of 3 others all giving them up after almost 25 years. This call solidified what had been gestating in my mind for years; that the game is rigged.
It’s a rare Sunday that I watch more than a few minutes of football. I’ll read this board occasionally to see what if anything I’m missing but the amount of threads that still speak of the terrible officiating or the contempt that Goodell has for this franchise reaffirms my decision. I don’t judge those that are still fans but for me it’s been a liberating 4 years.

There's no need for one of us to remind the rest of this again and again and again.

For decades Saints fans complained about the Officiating in the NFL. For decades these fans complained, "One day it will cost some team a Conference Championship Game and keep them out of the Superbowl - and that team will probably be the Saints."

And wouldn't you know, they were RIGHT! IT DID HAPPEN TO THE SAINTS!

Same. It was soul crushing and even still to think about it.

The whole vibe up until that moment was just perfect. Felt like a coronation. Didn't even consider that we could lose. Was even planning on going to Atlanta for the SB. When Ginn caught that pass I thought it was in the bag, like it had all just come together perfectly. Then the no call and it's like the franchise has been on a constant downward slide ever since. The fact that it screwed the best player in franchise history out of a ride off into the sunset moment is what makes it worse. That can never be fixed, even if the Saints win another one. 2019 LSU kinda healed the wounds of 2011. You can't really do that here and it sucks.

All of this! When Ginn caught that pass I looked at my friend next to me and we both had tears in our eyes. That feeling was indescribable. You could feel the pain walking out the dome.

One of the worst no calls in the history of the sport, that day confirmed for me forever that the NFL is rigged and always will be. I take it as nothing more entertainment now, I don’t get mad when the saints lose or over excited when they win.
