Driver Shaft Adapters

Recently bought a new 9 degree Callaway Maverick driver with an XS shaft.
Was just given a 10.5 degree SIM2 Max with a S shaft in great condition from someone who upgrades every time new gear comes out.
Want to give the SIM2 a shot but feel like the shaft and undersized grips would make too big of a difference for a true comparison. A buddy suggested an adapter. Wanted to get the experts opinion before going forward and ruining both on accident.
Does the adapter hold up well? Is this something an amateur can do at home with minimal tools?

1. You were just fit into a driver you purchased and you now want to start tinkering with another driver? That sounds like a bad idea.
2. You can get adapters, but I would have someone experienced in club making do that. You’re potentially damaging multiple club heads and shafts if you do it wrong.

Yes if you use a heat gun and not get it too hot. I have used the same adapter over and over.
Each manufacturer has their own adapter and they are not interchangeable.
You can order a universal adapter from Golfworks that seems to work on everything but Titleist.

Fitted was misleading, my mistake. My instructor picked out 3 to choose from that were forgiving and onsale bc the driver I was using was 12 years old and had a regular shaft. Either way, I certainly wouldn't be looking to buy a new one, just caught off guard to be given such a nice one out of the blue. 
If it was as simple as exchanging the head with my current shaft its a no brainer. Amount of money for the switch, and potential that I couldn't get back to my current set up if I don't like the SIM2 is more concerning.

I suggest just putting your normal grip on the Sim and give it a try.
Even though different shafts that will at least give you a feel for the Sim head before you tear clubs apart.
Taylormade heads have a very muted feel and sound.

There’s a guy on coursey who does this stuff . Golf Mechanics? I was worried to mess up my club so I found that on google maps
