Friends That Have Lost Interest in Fantasy

So, I have been playing fantasy football for well over a decade now, and still love it. One of my good friends who got me into fantasy in the first place, well, he recently quit our league that he was the commish of because he said fantasy was no longer fun for him. It surprised me, because he always seemed so into fantasy for years.
Do any of you have friends/family like this? Where they lose interest and don’t want to play anymore? I know things change and people’s interests change, but for me personally, I don’t believe I would ever stop playing.

Yeah, woke NFL bullshite cost me a league that I had been in for 15 years. Half of the guys just gave up in the NFL in general

I did this in 2020. I couldn't deal with the woke so I gave it up. Didn't even watch a single game that year. I got back to it last year, but I don't think it'll ever be the same.

My cousin had been playing since 1986 and folded his league in 2020 during COVID Season.
I was in that league for 14 years and was shocked.
He just completely lost interest after playing since 1986.

My first league was in 1999. I still enjoy it but not sure I have the fever like I used to. I started feeling that way during and after the 2020 season.
The complete departure of the standard RB has been a pain in the arse. You hardly have any bell cows left and it's a pain in the arse to deal with.

I separate politics from football, otherwise I'd go crazy. This is my time of the year! I love football. Nothing could probably ever change that. I will say the feelings of getting "burned out" are more from doing too many leagues, Draft Kings etc. Trying to keep up with it all. Maybe that was part of the thing for your friend?

Damn baw, talk about not wanting to change with the times
Things change. Adapt or get left behind. Or be apathetic.

I do worry for the future of fantasy football because I think this will continue to happen. Or maybe it’s just a trend and things will go back to normal in another 5-6 years. There are cycles in the NFL

I will say the NFL in general has lost it's luster since the NOLA no-call for me. I used to be a guy who was in 4 fantasy leagues and would spend all Sunday watching any game on and never missed Monday night football. Now, I will watch the Saints play and occasionally check my phone to see how my fantasy teams are doing, but I will never be able to go back to how it was.

The RB by-committee takeover in the NFL has been a pain in the arse for fantasy. My comment isn't about adapting, it's just about the nature of the position in 2022 as far as playing fantasy football.
Its taken some excitement out of the game for me managing RB committees every fricking week when the middle of the season hits.

I think that all the services that provide ready to use fantasy football information has kinda ruined it some for me. I started FF in the mid 90s and other than a few magazines, there wasn’t an overload of information, especially up to date information. I always felt like I had an advantage going into the draft bc of the time and research I put into the preparation for the draft. Now, anyone can show up for the draft and have the latest and greatest cheat sheet downloaded from earlier today and be competitive. Just a small thing but it’s something that took away some of my interest.

I quit fantasy about 2 years ago and have been thinking about getting back in. But I guess it goes hand in hand with sports. Losing interest in sports in general has caused losing interest in fantasy
Either just getting old or just hate repetition.

I think this is a reason you’re seeing the zero RB strategy start to gain a little more traction on draft night.
A high scoring running back can be had from waivers nearly every year. Rookie Alvin Kamara. James Conner. Cordarrelle Patterson.
Nothing to suggest that one or more of the guys after the RB dead zone can’t finish top 24. It’s a virtual lock. Harris, Edmonds, CEH, Singletary, Penny, etc.
It’s not a strategy I’m personally ready to adapt yet, but say you’re picking at the back of the first round in a 10 team snake. You can start with Chase and Diggs, then take Josh Allen and Keenan Allen on your next turn. There are still a dozen starting nfl running backs on the board and virtually all of the really talented backups. I could see where it would pay off, particularly if you targeted the Tony Pollards, Alex Mattisons, Isaiah Spillers later in the draft. The guys that will fricking feast if a starter gets hurt.

Nobody ever won a league on draft night

Technology and say her name did it for me... I m get back into a coed couples league with the friends this year. It's been 6-7 years. Just not as fun. The league itself was never the thing it was the drafts.

I hate fantasy football these days. But I keep making money. It’s like a job to me now

I have done the zero RB strategy a few times and regret it every time.
