Just booted up the old PS2 and started playing NCAA football 11 on there and I forgot how good the dynasty mode was. Sure the gameplay isn’t as crisp as 2014 and there’s no coordinators or conference customization but I’m having a blast. The ESPN magazine covers every week and having to actually discipline players or else you’ll get hammered by the NCAA are simple things I didn’t realize I missed.

I built North Texas into a powerhouse and in year 4 I had a top 10 class. However, most of those players had poor discipline and since I never allocated funds for discipline and only for recruiting and player development, all of those great recruits started getting into trouble quick. And I didn’t have any points to discipline them.

Needless to say, the NCAA hammered us with 4 years of probation, no bowl appearance and massive loss of scholarships. I jumped ship the next season

It took me by total surprise. My first 2-3 years the worst thing I ever saw was guys missing class. Then the 5 stars got on campus and week 2 of the season, my running back was seen shoplifting off campus. So naturally I suspended him for the season but that took up almost all of my discipline points because I didn’t allocate very much of the budget for that

Well after that, my starting defensive tackle, a freshman backup QB both got into off campus altercations and then my starting linebacker got caught having someone else take his tests for him. I couldn’t discipline any of these players. This happened throughout the entire season. I went from not being anywhere near the NCAA’s radar to them being elbow deep up my programs arse by seasons end

While I completely understand it from a gameplay balancing perspective, having to “budget” for discipline would make me struggle a bit with the suspension of disbelief

Just spitballing, but I think a more interesting system would have you able to discipline freely, but you run the risk of hurting the performance of other players (upset/distracted friends aren’t playing) and making future recruits consider you a less attractive destination if you’re deemed to be a “disciplinarian”.

That’s by far the worst one.

Way too many 5-stars. Terrible position variety in recruiting.

06 is and always will be the best.

I like the gameplay of 06 for sure but the dynasty mode still was a few years off. Plus the uniforms and some of the stadiums are more updated in 11.

I like it far better than '14 b/c it's not saddled w/those super annoying half second delays when you are changing through the various recruiting screens.

it runs so much better on PC. i can sim a whole season in 10-15 minutes where it would take 30 or more on console.

When I say I booted up the PS2. I actually meant I booted up the “PS2”. It would cost me over $200 to buy the console, game and controller on Amazon. frick that
