As long as you're not doing stupid shite, rock climbing is pretty safe.
On third watch, he just had horrible placement on his protection. A fall from where he did doesn't generate an insane amount of force, certainly not enough if it is a well placed cam.

It was both. The first piece of protection pulled out, and the second unclipped at the carabiner. He was pretty run out between the two pieces of pro.

There are ratings and plenty of beta on established routes. That said, sometimes climbing is dangerous…gotta be smart and strong.

I've taken whippers longer than that on runout sections or sketchy pro. There is nothing like zippering pro to wake you up in the morning.

when you fall off your surfboard you dont plummet to your death unless you fall into the mouth of a shark
it might be fun and a great adrenaline rush to run in traffic on the freeway or play russian roulette too, but it doesnt mean you are not still taking on a stupid and unnecessary risk of death
