The abusive 49er fans, before during, and after the game.

They were horrible!
Constant Katrina references, like “too bad you didn’t die, maybe I should kill you now!”

…that kind of wonderful stuff..yep

Thank you for bringing this up.

I know a family that went to that game.

Most football fans don’t realize that 49er fans are some of the worst in football
Dallas a close second

Chicago and Philadelphia get a lot of press.

But 49ers and Dallas are scum of the earth

For me it’s the illegal hit on Pierre Thomas at the end of our first drive. I think everyone has forgotten about it
. That is 100% it. I bitched about that play for a long time after that. I still cannot understand how that was ruled it was 100% dirty. I still believe if Pierre doesn’t get knocked out the Saints win that game going away.

There are so many reasons why that game sucked. The Thomas hit was huge for a multitude of reasons (don’t forget because he was out they had to take Sproles off kickoff returns and Roby fumbled which gave SF a cheap TD) and Williams insane decision to run press coverage when Alex Smith was seemingly trying to run the clock out himself. But for me it didn’t just stop at the game. If you remember the infamous tape of Gregg Williams that was constantly played during bountygate came from that game. Of course, we had nothing remotely close to a late hit in that game, whereas Whitner’s dirty hit was the biggest play in the game. And if you don’t think he walked out of the SF locker room with a nice chunk of change for knocking out Thomas, you’re kidding yourself. But it was the Saints that the league picked to be the fall guy for player safety due to the concussion lawsuit against the league. A brutal game for so many reasons.

Between that and 1-9 happening back to back it really killed the joy of sports for me.

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda. Goodell had the fix in so there was no way Sean Payton and Saints win.

Undoubtedly I hate the fact that the Saints lost the game. That’s it. Nothing else matters.

The fact the defense didn’t learned after a similar late game collapse happened against the Titans (Saints held on 22-17)

That illegal hit was bad, but we still had them beat after Graham's go-ahead TD with 40+ seconds left..

...but then have to watch them and Vernon Davis drive & score on our ole' defense (in what was then considered an impossibly short amount of time) personally stung for almost a decade. I'm really just getting over it.

I imagine it's probably how Bills fans currently feel after letting the Chiefs score in 13 seconds.
