Can I see some before/after pics for a backyard remodel?
Posted by Sev09 on 6/20/22 at 3:01 pm10
These hot days have me daydreaming about a backyard oasis and I’m looking for some inspiration.

Does adding a pool and landscaping count?

Not extravagant, but this is my backyard makeover. I did the pavilion myself and all in, it cost me around $5,000. I'd do a few things different if I could do it again, but it added 400 sq ft of shade in a backyard that faces the evening sun. The pool was around $45k. Nothing over the top but it is a puddle of water to get into on a hot day after mowing.

One thing I would say if you will be adding an outdoor kitchen/hangout area, attach it to the house! Ours is not, and open on 3 sides, which means that you will be walking through rain to get to it with hands full of food, prep items, etc. Also, if it is not big enough you will be getting some drops underneath with any little wind. Don't have wood cabinets outboard facing if they will be sitting in the sun/weather for any period; without constantly resealing them they will need replaced in a few years.
Make sure you have power for whatever you might need with a separate disconnect, and/or gas so you can have an on-demand water heater.
I am a big fan of the kitchen attached to the back of the house, and the pool just past it one way or another.

tigerfoot....what are the dimensions of the pool? Gunite I suppose? Is that a hot tub or just seat where the cutout is? Builder? Approximate cost? (if willing to share....or just a range)
Thx
