I also think people forget these are college kids, 20 years old, learning the sport, facing the toughest competition they’ve ever played against. They are *supposed* to get better over time. Kramer started off a .200 hitter and improved to .300 with power, was a team leader, etc. the weird thing about the sport is one night they play great the next they play terrible. Then some players go through crazy slumps. How did Bianco forget how to swing a bat? How do coaches see that players will emerge from their slumps?? All a mystery - fun to watch

Getting swept one weekend and then sweeping the next is not typical of baseball at all.

Over a season, that's reasonable. When it's the excuse at the end of every weekend it becomes trite

To clarify, that comment was not pointed at Jay, but his predecessor

fricking crazy how inconsistent we are.
it can happen day to day, even year to year in baseball.

Mississippi State lost by 25 to Tennessee Thursday, should’ve won yesterday. Lost 4-3 after UT had 3 runs in last inning.

Miss State also won the NC last season and this year are dead last in the SEC with a losing record. Crazy shite but that’s baseball for u

An Alabama beat LSU 28-2, won the series in early May then lost to them in the national championship 13-6

The key is college baseball to to be playing well or get hot at end of the season, that’s typically LSUs pattern. I thought LSU best baseball peak last year was a few weeks to early which was maybe because he was retiring etc.

Before the Ole Miss series I thought they had this perfect for a good run. The SEC tournament will tell us what we need to know. But let’s be honest this is a young team with a new coach and a lot of holes in it. Getting to a SR would be really above reasonable expectations, CWS a lucky fluke.
