Why TF do they typically board planes from front rows first to back rows afterwards? It slows the process way down and makes no sense. Plus if you’re near the front you’re sitting there for 10 to 15 minutes with people crammed up in the aisles next to you as they wait for folks in front of them to load the bins before they can get passed them to their seats further back.

I haven't flown in a while, but when I did, First Class boarded first and economy then boarded from back to front.

And what’s the deal with the razor blade disposal bin in the bathroom? Just who is shaving that much on a plane?

The only reason I can think of is that if you let the rest of the plane board first, there would be several peckerwoods seated in row 30 who put their luggage in the first possible overhead bin. So now there isn’t overhead space in the front of economy for the people sitting there. Now they have to go to the rear of the plane to find a spot for their luggage, then walk against traffic to get back to their seat, then reverse the process upon landing.

Traveled close to 1,000,000 miles in my life. See your point. From the airline perspective, early boarding is a perk. Beat the lines at the gate. Settle in first. Plenty of prized overhead space. Pecking order is people needing help. Active military. People with high airline status and/or higher priority seats like First or Business class. Economy plus. And so forth.

Bc of overhead bin space for one... Outside of First Class, mid-plane usually has premium pricing for seats and if you let back on first, those who paid more don't have overhead bin space.

I've never understood the need to leave the open airport terminal and sit first in an airplane seat. Unless on SW, you are worried about no bin space, have special needs, or sitting in business class I'd rather be on a plane as little as possible.

I've always thought this was hilarious. I guess it goes back to the 60s and 70s when most travelers were businessman getting ready for a meeting?

Even in the late 80s when I traveled a lot for work, there was a plane full of businessmen during the week. Although I don't miss the pantyhose, we all looked really nice in our business suits! Now everybody on the plane is either ready to hit vacation mode or looks like they just crawled out of bed!

How old are you?

When they started charging to check bags, that's when all this shitshow started. You could board a 747 in 1/2 the time in the late 90s.

They should charge people for bringing suitcases into the cabin instead of charging for checked baggage. Would speed up the entire process.

No, just charge more so the trash that puts anything and everything in the overheads instead of under the seat in front of them can't afford to fly.

I swear, the last 2yrs have been miserable in regards to the amount of trash on board.

The greatest traveling was June 2020 til beginning of 2021 when they opened up seating again and imploded prices, attracting the trash.

This. Makes no sense why people line up early to be crammed in that aluminum tube 30 minutes before takeoff.

Those are the same dumbasses who usually are the first to stand with their neck bent under the overhead storage, need to get their bags three seats behind where they sat and you still end up seeing them at baggage claim.

Somebody gets it. Charging for checked bags has forever fricked up the boarding process and made flying an even bigger PITA. watching people trying to stuff giant bags in the overhead bins to dodge that $25 surcharge is the worst.

ETA: why not mark up the tickets and quit nickel and dining fees for everything?

agreed. i always check every bag and board last. i laugh at the idiots who get up to stand in line 15minutes before boarding.
