Has anyone ever stayed here before? It’s my wife and I 15th anniversary in September and we’ve always wanted to go to St Thomas. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or are there better places to stay?

There will always be “some place better to stay” so just pick a place that has what you’re looking for and enjoy an impressive life event together.

Honestly - stay on St John. Less people, better beaches (besides Magen’s bay on a non Cruise day)

It’s a 20 minute ferry every hour. You can spend a day or two on St Thomas but you’ll love St. John.

I was looking at that too. It is a bit more pricey but doable.

I would recommend staying on St. John. My wife and I honeymooned on St. Thomas and ended up going to St. John almost every day. Magen's Bay is the only really nice beach on St. Thomas in my opinion. St. John has multiple that you can either drive or hike to. I also always recommend staying in a private house over a resort. It gives you more freedom to explore the island and hit more beaches. But that is a personal preference. If yall do want to stay on St. Thomas I recommend looking into the house "On the Rocks" on VRBO. This is where we stayed for our honeymoon and it was fantastic. The best view I have ever had with the constant noise of the ocean crashing on the rocks. You cannot go wrong either way. The islands are beautiful no matter which one you decide to stay on.

There is a Westin on St. John if you want the resort experience.

Stayed there twice on Marriott points. It's really nice, but very spread out. It's a large property. Many of the units (I call them that b/c they're essentially like condos - some are privately owned) are not right on the beach / bay. And you won't be hanging out there much anyways unless you have kids that want to go to the pool.

Next time we visit St. John I'll be staying at a more reasonable place in Cruz Bay.

The end goal is to get out to the north-side beaches during the day and then be able to walk home to your hotel / house after dinner and several cocktails at night.

Stayed there last May for our honeymoon. Really enjoyed it, the beach front had some sea weed that skid steers were constantly raking out but other than that we loved the resort. Everything is about a 5-10 minute taxi ride away on the island and like other posters said you can ferry to St. John for the town feel and other beaches. I'd recommend Cinnamon Bay on St. John if you go. It is absolutely beautiful. It was little to no people on the day we went, just be sure to bring a towel to sit on as there are no benches or chairs to sit on. Enjoy it

Went last July. They had a terrible seaweed problem- can't remember the name of it but it all washed ashore right in front of Margaritaville. It smelled like straight a-hole.

ETA: They can track this seaweed on radar so it's not a shock when it shows up. Something to look up if you decide to stay here.
