re: Nationwide Starlink deployment delayed until mid 2022Posted by anchoo99

Mine came in today.
I got the email that my kit was ready last Thursday, and they shipped it Tuesday of this week.

What happens if you order Starlink, get it working just fine, and then later move to a different state? Is it portable where you can just move to your new home taking the Starlink equipment with you, setting it up at the new location, update your billing address, and voila, it works at your new location?

I think there are hundreds of thousands of people that are quite thankful he's bold enough to take on a venture like this. Without his big balls a lot of people would never have good and reliable high speed internet. At least those that aren't city slickers.
Hell, I don't even have his service but I'm smart enough to realize that what he's doing is quite revolutionary.

Well I hate Cox and ATT sticks too so I would be interested in a 3rd option.
Have you out T-Mobile Home Internet.
This is from the Starlink FAQs
quote:
Service is only guaranteed at the Service Address on your order. If you move Starlink outside of its assigned area, a satellite may not be scheduled to serve Starlink and you may not receive internet or may receive degraded service. By changing your Service Address, you may not be able to return to your original address based on service availability. Once updated, service at your previous address will be disconnected. At this time, we are not able to support moves to a different country. Our teams are actively working to make it possible to use Starlink on a moving vehicle (e.g. automobiles, RVs, boats) in the future. Note: Orders are fulfilled based on the date of your initial Starlink order; if you move to a new location, your place in the queue at the new location will still be based off of your initial order date.
Just a little update on some more testing I have done.
I've read that people were having mixed success in using their dishes at another location. So, I decided to move mine to another place I have that is 5.1 miles away from the designated address. The 5.1 miles is a direct line distance btw.
I'm getting a little more drops, but not enough to notice in general web usage. It may be that I don't have as much wide open space as the original location. The dish still points almost directly overhead. Speed is around 180Mbps down/35 up. Latency is around 40. The Starlink app does recognize that it is not being used at the designated address.
So more than usable.

For those who got their shipping email, did you order any of the accessories with your kit? Is that an option?
For example, the ethernet adapter and pipe mount.

If or when I get the full order processed I plan on ordering the pipe adapter and the ethernet adapter/cable.

I ordered the ethernet adapter, I hope it ships with the kit and not next month like it said at first.

Just checking in to see if my order had updated and it looks like they have changed the design of the dish. For anyone that received one recently, is your dish round or rectangular?
For now all dishes in the USA will be rectangle in shape. There are also different mounts and router. This started a month or so ago.

Im south of BR and got mine this week. One thing that is confusing when I run the speed test it shows about 200Mbps, when I run a speed test from a third party such as google I am showing 50Mbps. Why the difference, the wifi?
