Minnesota is a liberal cesspool, yes, but I think it is also feasible that various regulatory agencies made it known that they could/would make the credit union/bank's life miserable if they didn't do something

I didn't read your entire back and forth, but count me in for the argument for freedom of commerce being equal to freedom of speech. While it may be distasteful, if it is lawful it should certainly not be prevented.

Now private institutions can do as they wish, so the issue then becomes similar to healthcare when our system requires licensure, insurance, registration, compliance etc. and can make life HELL for those who decide to do business with those who do not agree politically (a la IRS)

it's a slippery slope wouldn't you say?
