This.

People like to shite on Iowa for their loyalty to Ferentz, but they’ve been an extremely stable program for the last 40+ years, 20 of which are under Ferentz.

When they hired Hayden Fry, Bear Bryant was still coaching. As someone whose own program has had 6 coaches since 2007, I’m envious of their stability and continuity.

I've always rooted for Iowa and their style of play. With the portal and NIL, even more so.

They really have emulated the Steelers, obviously not the same level of success, but their consistency and identity (and uniforms or course) reminds me of the college version of them. This year especially, with both teams having such anemic offenses but still finding ways to win. Brian at OC is questionable but other than that you’ve got to appreciate Kirk.

Too many programs in the Western Division of the Big Ten (Iowa and Wisconsin especially) are satisfied with mediocracy. The Eastern Division actually cares about winning national championships and making the playoffs. No western division team has ever come close to making the playoffs and yet Wisconsin and Iowa think they have good programs. When you rank the big ten programs You have Ohio State, Michigan State, and Michigan. All Eastern Division teams that have made the playoffs.

Tell me you don't know shite about Iowa City without telling me you don't know shite about Iowa City

IC isn't Utopia, but it's a lot nicer than BR.

Iowa and Wisconsin are basically twins.

Old Badger boosters are scared to death of a return to the Don Morton era so they don't push for improvement as they feel trying something different, like throwing the ball competently, may cause the wheels to come off.

This geographical disparity was the reason for the “Leaders” and “Legends” divisions, which was completely reasonable.

Iowa understands that while they COULD be better, they are more likely to get much worse. Therefore, you stick with the guy who gives you 9 wins and sometimes more.

Good for them
You know with him he's going to get Iowa a 10-11 win season once every 3 years.

This is their peak. Might as well continue to have fun with that.

For sure, very similar programs, Wisky is like Iowa north that runs more gap scheme. Always enjoy watching that game.

There's some hitting going on in the trenches when they play.

And honestly it won’t get much better. He has consistently built them into a winning season team. Every now and then they make a run. You ain’t gonna get much better than that.

Iowa is in tune with its inner "Star Player". They know what they are and are happy with Kirk. Good move for both parties.
