Anybody ever painted a metal garage door?

Tons of opinions online. From paint thinner and scrubbing off old paint to using actual spray paint cans
Anybody on here ever actually painted theirs? Spray paint would be ridiculously easy but I also don’t want it to look like shite in a year. I have a paint sprayer as well but using oil Based paint is a real pain in the arse with that

Painted ours at my old house about 2 years ago. Extremely easy. Just bought outdoor paint and rolled it on there. Some spots you need to use a brush but it’s still not hard. Took about 2 hours to do everything.

If it is aluminum, wash it with TSP or something similar. Rinse thoroughly. When dry, wire brush loose paint. Whip off excess particles. Spot prime with exterior acrylic primer and paint with exterior acrylic paint. Brush and roll works fine as long as you use thin coats.
Or just go to paint store where the professionals go and ask them.

Did mine many years ago. Washed it real good, scuffed it up with a very light sanding, and rolled on exterior paint. Never had an issue. Looked great.

I did mine with exterior paint and a foam roller and had no issues.

Washed and scuffed also. I used a paint sprayer with exterior paint. Haven’t had an issue yet, but it’s been less than a year.
