That 1970 LSU - Notre Dame game was a great one too. I remember Joe Theismann made that critical first down. Theismann pounded the football in the ground he was so elated. Allowed ND to kick the winning field goal. Even though the Tigers lost the game, LSU made a statement that game. Move over boys, LSU is here.

Yep, when the smoke cleared LSU - 0, Notre Dame - 3. LSU went on to avenge the loss in 1971. But in terms of tension, and pure defensive heroics that 1970 game will always be, for me, one of the great LSU games.

I was 10 years old and my dad took me to the game. We sat in the south end, but I think we stood the entire game. My dad was on the faculty of LSU and he did not attend any games, but he knew his 10 year old son was a huge tiger fan. One of my best memories with dad. The entire city was buzzing all week waiting for the game and being on TV was a big deal in those days.

Prior to ND kicking the winning field goal, Casanova dropped an interception from Theisman in the end zone.
