Here's a fun story:
A kid in my kid's class had sniffles/congestion on a Wednesday - no big deal - stayed at school the rest of the week. Symptoms subside, but parents decide the following Monday to test for COVID, and it comes up positive.
School is notified, and school consults with a doctor, who recommends this kid and the 3 kids (one of which is mine) who sit next to him/her have to quarantine for 10 days. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts.
The rest of the class, teacher, staff, etc. are all safe because their desk was not adjacent to this kid's desk. Never mind this kid ate next to different kids at lunch, talked to other kids and teachers during classroom breaks, etc.
10 days out of school. No option of returning on day 7 if test is negative. Nope, just "here's 10 days of classwork and homework, good luck parents". Make sure you can take enough PTO.
This is where we are after almost 2 years.
