You're almost better off not believing it.
A. When has a "leak" this early ever been accurate?
B. Maybe Woody/Riley wanted to keep it quiet
C. When have "LSU insiders" ever been right? Especially on tigerdroppings, and especially some random no-name posters. They're just looking for attention most likely.
D. If it's not Riley, you aren't disappointed and melty about the great coach you actually got. If it IS Riley somehow, you're pleasantly surprised. Win/win.
E. You aren't embarrassed when you fell for the troll jobs and attention seekers
F. Once again, WHEN HAS A "LEAK" THIS EARLY EVER ACTUALLY HAPPENED? Jimbo/Herman were both "done deals" according to "insiders" on this board in 2016. The exact same threads, with the exact same posters falling for it are happening today.
G. Riley is already at a blueblood program and that makes stealing him away even less likely

I believe the news but no one has actually said it's signed or done, that has any credibility at least, so things can change. Who knows maybe OU matches or comes close and he stays. No telling where they are in this process right now.

I must've missed where this became an etched-in-stone rule amongst the ADs and message boards of the country, but I keep seeing this repeated around here as if it's a fact.
A smokescreen is a smokescreen, period. It's all to take the eyes off your AD so he can work behind the scenes while everyone is distracted elsewhere, that's all it is.
And last I checked, the Riley to LSU rumors have only been reported by fans, and then repeated by some with a larger following. There's nothing coming out from either AD about this, and legit sources are all saying "not so fast!"
This may not even be a smokescreen to begin with, let alone some unwritten rule that doesn't exist about "it has to be a better coach than your smokescreen"

I want to believe but know better than to believe. Especially with 3 weeks left in the season. I believe there were/are talks between the 2 sides. But don’t see Riley leaving what he built. I would think OU will get close enough and give in to some things he wants to keep him there.
