Go to a small town outside of where you live as they seem to be less busy. No way would I try to go to a DMV in a major city. I think I remembered when I lived in Shreveport they were opening satellite dmv offices around the parish (not sure if that is a widespread thing or not).

I actually think the DMV is one of the very few things that has improved since Covid (at least in the Nola metro area). Now, you can schedule an appointment in advance. I did that when I had to get a new license last year. I was fully expecting to be there at least one hour, but I was out the door in under 20 minutes.

My issue today was that I can’t renew my license without going in person because I’ve moved. I’ve moved 5 times in last 10 years. Do that expext me to go in and pay for a new license every time?

Yes. The person you pay has a pension to support.

I’ve been to hell I spell it, I spell it DMV. Anyone who’s been there knows precisely what I mean.

Shreveport DMV is awful. The one in Bossier off the interstate is much more efficient.

I only go to DMV if I absolutely have to. I use a title company for all other needs.

know people have been saying this forever, but personally i haven't had it too bad with DMVs. a couple long waits but that's it.

There is definitely an issue with Louisiana. It takes time because people aren’t prepared, but it’s hard to get people on the phone. So you have less informed people showing up.

Plus it’s the government. They all got to take their breaks and the hours they operate are when normal fricks are all at work.

Wife went to DMV to change name on license. Was told she needs to change it at SSN office first but they are all online only. Nothing available for it online. You call the number, stay on hold for 20-30 minutes, it clicks like someone is picking up then boom dropped call. I’ve watched her try it Atleast 3 times

I haven't had that issue with the OMV office on Independence Boulevard.
