I am no basketball aficionado, but I really enjoyed listening in to the game last night. He brought some really good insight. The recap this morning on Jordy was really good, too.

He should replace Lyn Rollins. that was one of the worst broadcasts I ever had to listen to on ESPN+ becaue Lyn literally got like 20 calls wrong and had to be constantly corrected.
Then the "DAYS INN" every time he hit a 3

Brady is the best radio analyst at LSU right now, hands down. He obviously knows the school and the basketball history. Be he also isn't so far removed from coaching the game that it has passed him by. He can, and does, give great insight. But he is really tremendous at not trying to make himself the "star" of the broadcast. Plus, he is incredibly respectful of Wade, and you can tell in the post-game interviews they get along well...even if Wade's style is probably much different than Brady's at LSU.
It is really remarkable to think this is the same John Brady who was acerbic and OVERLY sensitive to criticism when he was the HC at LSU. It is even more remarkable he's back involved with the program that fired him not all that long ago. A decision he very much resented for a while.
Brady seems to be comfortable and at peace with his life and career. He seems happy to be doing what he is doing, and it makes for a really good broadcast. Probably the best of all the major sports Blair calls.

Yep he was always on edge and at times seemed envious of the attention on football. Plus we all know he was a bit of an old school coach. But I think once he retired at Arkansas State and started spending more time with his daughters he really mellowed out and became more at peace with everything and supports LSU no matter the sport. He’s excellent on the radio and im glad he is back around the program in that role.

Blair is much better at calling basketball games than football but that’s just my opinion.

Truth! He really is excellent. I wish he would do the radio show with Wade. That would be an insightful and entertaining hour

Yeah you could tell he was workshopping it all offseason but it doesn't hit like a fire ant on a fever blister. Not the hall of famer's best work.

I only hear Brady in the postgame stuff as I attend the home games. But he is very good postgame.

Same. I listen to the postgame, but I’ll usually tune in when the Tigers are on the road.

You're making an apples-to-oranges comparison. They do different things. Rollins is a play by play broadcaster, albeit a terrible one. Brady is a color analyst, albeit a good one. So one can't replace the other. The only sport where play-by-play guys also do color and vice versa is Major League Baseball, and most of the time that happens on radio. And it doesn't happen as much as it used to happen.
I'm not sure why a lot of people on these boards struggle to understand this, but I see this kind of mistake all the time when comparing announcers.

completely agree. Lynn was horrible and took the fun out of an otherwise awesome game

Is so fricking bad at his job in basically every way. It is mind blowing to me he still calls LSU games.

John Brady is a great basketball coach also.

He is a better on the radio though. I am really surprised he hasn't gotten a bigger gig. I do love listening to him and Chris call games. They are an awesome team

Grew up watching Brady play high school ball in McComb, MS. Our school was biggest rival. His high school coach, Bobby Nelso, was college level talent...John learned basketball at an early age from one of the best.
