2012 is when the Saudis began driving down prices, which meant that American producers couldn't compete.
So we weren't able to become "energy independent" somewhere in that time period? Is that when American producers couldn't compete?

Biden's not to blame for this at all.
Again...bullshite!

In 2019, when Donald Trump was president, the U.S. did achieve energy independence, something that had not happened since 1957.

You do not understand how gas prices work. Please talk about something you have more knowledge in.
Reducing supply will always make prices rise. Biden has severely reduced supply.

It’s interesting that Biden is begging The Saudis to increase production. All he had to do was leave things alone and we wouldn’t be having these problems today.

Energy demand has skyrocketed since the pandemic is coming to an end.
what if I told you demand hasn't changed much? and then I told you that there was the biggest supply drop in US history between Feb. 2020 and Feb. 2021? from about 371k barrels to 273k?

Yes, I can see my responding with facts to your wild exaggerations has triggered you like some blue-haired tranny being "mis-gendered". Do you need a safe space? Maybe a tissue?

versus someone that actually worked, lived and had a mortgage/financing and stock purchases tied to Bush/Greenspan's 8-year wasted economy.
LOL! You say that as if it's some grand accomplishment, like you were the only person who was doing any of that at the time and paying attention to what the Fed was doing.
Many of us here were doing that at the same time as well.
You have a hard-on against Greenspan and Bush, I get it. Bush was a RINO's RINO and he did lots of crap to be critical of without needing to throw a hissy about easily disproven bullshite.

This is true post 2014 when Alaweed wrote his letter to the Saudi oil minister. The OP was talking specifically about the 147 barrel of oil during Bush. The Saudis voluntarily decided to inflict pain on themselves but we refused to cut production.
fricked Louisiana real good though. This as well fricks Louisiana real good.

U.S. became the swing barrel on the supply side not because of any regulation or leasing, it was mostly due to fracking technology improvements and banks willing to lend at low interest rates without really ever making a profit. That is why prices were low the past 8 years or so.
Did the fracking technology and low interest rates sunset?

Actually, your boy trump tried to raise gas prices, by getting involved in negotiations on capping oil production in the Middle East. His words were something to the effect of lower gas prices were a sign of a bad economy. Look it up.
You're an idiot. Trump did that to keep OUR oil industry afloat. He was asking them not to undercut our industry further. It was a great move, and all we had to do was not stifle our industry by shutting down multinational pipelines and halting drilling on federal lands.
Or threatening the oil industry at every turn, to the point that no one would be stupid enough to invest further in producing American oil right now.

Everyone here is asserting that Biden is to blame when anyone who's remotely involved in finance could tell you that Biden really isn't that much to blame.
I’m involved in finance and work very closely with those who specialize in commodities, specifically oil and gas. I can say with utmost confidence that they strongly disagree with your assertion.

Fracking, maybe?
Trump's America First policy exposed the potential; the People now know. Dems will play hell putting this 'genie' back in the bottle; especially when things get tough.

I thought you'd at least take a stab at an explanation though.

That dude better hope whatever "finance job" he has never figures out his handle on here. He's proving himself to be a total moron when it comes to the oil market.

911 and the ensuing middle east wars probably had something to do it.
US domestic production didn’t have fracking back then.

Not only that, if he truly works in finance and they find out he’s posting what could be considered market analysis in a public forum, he’s going to have a come to Jesus meeting with his firm leadership.
Most firms mandate that stay far away from this type of discussion in public forums. My earlier comment is even walking the line of what’s acceptable.

Well Bush was a closet Dem, Biden is a out of the closet Commie.
