He didn't play well the last two seasons. But this season, Damone has been a frickin machine. He and Ojulari are involved in a about 2/3 of every tackles.

Tackles for a linebacker is a misleading statistic that while it’s not a bad thing isn’t necessarily indicative of dominant play. While we say some improvements during the course of the season, his habit for playing confused and out of position has been a contributing factor in countless coverage breakdowns and huge runs ripped against this defense the past two seasons.
It’s clear he has the physical skills. I would like to see more discipline, confidence, and awareness.
For example, the Saints Stephone Anthony, a linebacker who led the team in tackles his rookie season, but he quickly was passed up on the depth chart as he was tackling people, but that didn’t mean he was reading the offense properly and playing in position. He was cut before the end of his rookie deal and failed to stick with any NFL team.

TDP will lead in run yards after a couple games like he played today

He didn’t really play well until game 4 this season.

My head is spinning. Clark is great, TDP is breaking rushing records, and we beat Florida

He was awful last weekend. Making a lot of tackles doesn’t necessarily mean he’s been good. He had a great game today though.

Tackling has never been the issue. It’s been being out of position, being confused, miscommunication. He is our best tackler and he plays with passion.

If all of his tackles are from behind (which has been the prevalent narrative here til he made a big interception in a big game), he must be the fastest muthafricka on the field to be running all these guys down.

I think it is obvious he has improved as the season has gone on, however he still doesnt fit the running game like a LSU MLB should. There is a reason we cant stop the run against teams like UK and UCLA that run straight at us. He made a great pick and has made some plays but I think the stats are misleading when it comes to his play.

He should be up there. We are 98th in the country in average time of possession. We are 89th in opponents 1st downs per game. We are 92nd in opponents plays per game. You don't want any defender leading the country in tackles because it usually means your defense can't get off the field.
We are 121st in opponents 3rd down conversion%.
