Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell is no longer a part of the band.
The 54-year-old rocker is retiring from music to deal with his physical and mental health, Harwell’s rep told The Post Tuesday.
“Steve has been dealing with long-term medical issues over the last eight years and during his last performance at the Big Sip stage, he suffered numerous symptoms directly linked with his current medical situation,” the rep said. “As of today, Steve will be retiring from Smash Mouth to focus on his physical and mental health.”
On Oct. 9, the band performed at the Big Sip festival in upstate New York where Harwell slurred his words, threatened the audience and gave some crude gestures to the crowd. The video was taken by a TikTok user who goes by the name Haley, who called it “chaotic.”

From the looks of that venue, he the rest of the band should have retired a long time ago

Did it involve making the shape of an L on his forehead?

Leukemia. He was normal party guy before but after that has been on the train hard. Talented guy but he has enormous demons. Was only a matter of time unfortunately.

I can never understand how some of these people don't retire with grace. Or how they go broke.
I was shocked to learn the other day that on the day Kurt Cobain died (April 5, 1994), he was already worth $50 million. Then, having died 13 years before with only 3 studio albums under his belt, when his song catalog was sold in 2007, the estate of Kurt Cobain was worth $450 million.

Seems like just Twenty-five years ago they spoke out and they broke out of recession and oppression and together they toked. And they folked out with guitars around a bonfire just t singing and clapping.

The dude didn't handle the Trump presidency very well. I was questioning his mental health back then

He had to throw in the towel before he was able to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony.
