Headed to Kaycee, WY tomorrow to hunt speed goats *Update - Oct 14*

First time hunting antelope.
A buddy and I are doing a DIY, but we paid a trespass fee to get onto some landlocked BLM properties.
The place is supposed to be full of goats, so we’re pretty excited.
Anyone here have advice for us?
I’m wondering where I’ll hang my treestand.

Use blinds near watering holes or stock tanks. Learn to belly crawl with rifle and scope. Not the best eating animal. Process into jerky, cheese/jap summer sausage, etc.
Go the the Fort Diablo in Glenrock Wyoming. Order the Prime Rib with Au Jour sauce. Best damn steak you will eat anywhere. Seriously dont leave Wy without going there.

If they are moving thru the range you are hunting, you could be done in 30 mins.
Drive or walk all over day one. Then go shoot one and visit the sites.
I shot a nice one near pine hurst 22 October last year.
Backstrap is good. All the rest has sage taste and is pretty shitty.

Not even close to the same. If can take one off of alfalfa fields the meat is much better.

If you picked Kaycee then you are on the bullseye for speed goats. 
Haven't talked to the local Game Warden for a couple of years, he lives just a couple of blocks southeast of the gas station. I will let him know that you are coming so that he can keep an eye out for your safety.

Bring plenty of ammo.
Mid October storm hit us a couple of years back in WYO. It was enough to shut the interstate down. Roads turned to shite. You might lose a day or two of hunting if the unpaved roads get slick.
The antelope will be skittish this time of year, but you shouldn’t encounter very many other lope hunters. You’ll see deer hunters.

In Casper, I’ve used Living Legends Taxidermy to boil 3 skulls for me. They ship them to me when they’re done.
We also had a meat processor do a rush job on our antelope while we fished the Miracle Mile. Seems like it was a two day turnaround.

Raise your hand if you ever camped at an exit on I 80 or I 25 in Wyoming! This guy has! I 25 is not bad but sweet Jesus make sure you keep a sleeping bag whiskey water and some food always keep fuel full in your truck. I 80 will go to shite In less than 30-45 min the exits turn in to tailgate parties when they shut the interstate down.

If you can, try to make the drive to Buffalo Wy and have a steak at Winchester's. Best steak in Wyoming....
Also, you will want to visit the downtown area and get a drink at the old restored Occidental Hotel/Saloon...takes you back to the old Butch Cassidy/Sundance Kid days...On Friday night they have an open Jam session with the local cowboys playing and singing...Really neat place to visit.
