Never seen campus this dead the day of a home opener

Just drove through and there really isn’t even many people tailgating. Even in the Archer, Hallman, and Dinardo years campus would be alive on gameday for a home opener so we can’t blame this all on losing.
Looks like years of tailgating restrictions, overpriced parking far away from the stadium, LSU’s woke agenda and being totally out of touch with its fanbase, and LSU being the only SEC school implementing ridiculous covid protocols has finally taken its toll.
LSU can only blame themself for this.

That’s before winning spoiled us. LSU fan base has nothing in common with the fan base before 2000.

there might be 30k inside the stadium tonight for this game if campus is any indication.

People still recovering from Ida is playing a part too I'm sure.
If this game was against a P5 team then I'm sure more people would be there.

more people yes, but even in years past, the home opener was always packed because the fan base had something to be excited about.

I believe that it’s effecting our usual game day but I want to see some pics

I was there for Syracuse in 2017 and it was pretty weak. That’s a P5

I think the covid protocol procedures bullshite is 90% of it...I know that's why I'm not out there

I think there’s some truth here but I can think of some real bad turnouts over the years as well. 18 months ago the stadium was full so idk if I believe there’s some existential situation at play here.

LSU killed tailgating by closing off areas to sell parking passes. Hope the money was worth because their greed made it a much worse game day experience

I am vaccinated, but I am not getting my kid a Covid test just to go to a fricking football game

I think the OP was commenting on the home season opener aspect...not just any random home game

I’d argue a home opener turnout is less relevant than turnout against SEC opponents

Good. LSU needs to reap what they sow.

I won’t go to a game as long as they are in place

Ida and Covid are factors, but don’t let it fool you. The primary reason people aren’t going is because they aren’t excited about the season after the last 11 games.

Even with the no name teams. Home openers have almost always (long as I can remember early 2000’s) have had 85-90 minimum for first quarter then obvi dwindle down but holy hell I’m shocked

Yeah. 15% Ida, 20% Covid 65% UCLA

It's definitely COVID more than anything else. I can't tell you how many die hard fans I know that aren't going to any games this year just because of that.
