This is what potential allies will have in the back of their minds when they are deciding to with us or with someone else in the future. “Gee, if I work with the US, I wonder will I get executed outside of my house when they abandon me?”

Trust can always be bought and we have an endless supply of bad checks to write.

The answer is they shouldn’t. We are terrible allies. It’s going to get real bad when China invaded Taiwan. After Afghanistan they have to be shitting their pants the most over this.

Why should Americans die for them in wars that are none of our damn business?

I understand your point, and I would normally accept it. But, Afghans have no sense of nationality. Just tribe and faith, and those men don't look like Pashtuns.

Military alliances are always matters of temporary conveniences. We allied with the USSR when both sides knew we'd be at war shortly thereafter.

I don't trust AUS, UK, CAN & NZ, so I'm fine if we're out on an island going forward, I suppose.

War has few rules

I don't know

Here is my take:

We were there for 20 fing years! 20

Fox news reported we spent 2.3 Trillion dollars

we lost 2500 soldiers

If I was an Ally I would think the Americans are pretty committed if they commit

that said, Biden is an idiot or a tool for the Devil

I am glad we're out, what is done is done...need to find a way to get out people out and get our assets back or just destroy them.

focus on the homeland

lot of issues here to be worried about

Yep, can't be because they actually see the societal improvement that Western values brought to their country...

You know you'd be melting if the party you supported was drug out into the streets and executed because they took Chinese bribes.

We have, no sense of national honor, and haven't since the 1860s.

I'm glad to be a southerner, and to know what honors means, but we are outsiders in this country. Our ruling class thinks honor is backwards and stupid. All they care about is getting fat at the feeding trough, while they have a chance.

There was a way to do this without making everyone who helped us an easy target for the Taliban.

I agree that we should’ve been done in that country a long time ago, but that doesn’t mean you just leave overnight and let your friends on the ground get murdered by terrorists.

Especially for Afghan soldiers not willing to fight outside of a few skirmishes.

Do you want US servicemen in Afghanistan until eternity? Even Russia tried and failed to win Afghanistan and left, so why do you think America would be different. It's not our job to be the worlds police force, to rebuild nations, and play the peacekeepers.

Give the Taliban back their country, and when they start supporting terrorism again then drop 10 MOAB's on their arses.

Our own country has needs and issues to solve, so we need to mind our business first. America First.

Bro this thread is not advocating staying in Afghanistan until the end of time. It’s about the 1000s of friendly forces Biden left hanging on the ground who were quickly executed by the taliban. Surely the adults who took over for trump could’ve seen this very obvious outcome coming.

We also just handed billions of dollars worth of weapons to the taliban. There was a way to pull out without doing that too. shite, you couldve bombed our bases when we left to destroy the weapons for pretty cheap.

All I’m trying to say is that if there was a way to royally screw this exit, we did it. There were better ways to exit this country.

correct

our flag lowered over the embassy

just an embarrassment of an exit

save the Americans

get our assets back or destroy them

as a parting shot, I would bomb the heck out of where the Taliban is trying to take in the capitol...

and every time they harm women and children, or murder Afghan men, I would bomb a 1000 Taliban
